Our Mission Statement
Our mission is to educate and organize students and teachers and to play a helpful and principled role in the movement for social justice, global peace, and local change. Within and throughout this struggle, we will articulate and defend the idea that true human liberation is impossible under capitalism. We seek social change which extends democracy into all aspects of life – social, political and economic. Our vision of socialism is profoundly democratic, feminist, and anti-racist. We will make our voices heard and we will make our actions seen.

FAQ
What is Y Double DSA?
YDSADSA holds meetings once a week on Tuesdays after school in Mr. Donaldon’s room (T217). These meetings go from 3:30 to 4:30. We do work in the community, fighting for Duke to pay their fair share in the Duke PILOT program and helping to educate DSA staff and students on racial, economic, and gender issues. If you can’t make it to our weekly meetings after school, you should still join us and help out on the weekend (after every weekly meeting, our secretary will be sending out minutes and notes on what was discussed/decided/voted on, so you will never be out of the loop!)
Why should I join Y Double DSA?
YDSADSA will provide many opportunities to make real change in the world; including feeding the homeless, educating you (and helping you educate those around you) on socialist issues, and getting you the information you need to get more involved with local politics.
What does Y Double DSA do?
YDSADSA (or the Young Democratic Socialists of America at Durham School of the Arts) is currently working on a few campaigns; we have almost finished work on our anti-SB49 (or the parents' bill of rights) education campaign and soon we're going to be working alongside the NC Triangle Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America on the Duke PILOT campaign, or the Payment In Leiu Of Taxes campaign. We are also going to be starting a more general political education campaign by putting up a free radical library and by adopting a library shelf!
